Precious Memories

This week's blog is about Precious Memories.

Although I intended to write a blog about a famous person who passed away in 2017, I became overwhelmed by my own emotions.

The initial "VIP story" (about Louise Hays - best-selling author) will follow later, and today it is all about MY HERO!

Until I reached the age of 58, I was blessed that I never lost someone really close to me. So it hit me so hard when on May 26, 2019, I lost my Dad after years of battle against cancer.

Dad was (and still is) my hero.

Leopold Goede - My Dad
The proudest Dad in the world,
holding me closely.
Leopold Goede
My Dad

He was 80 years old and had worked hard his whole life to support my mom, my 2 sisters, my 2 brothers & me.

He was a unique man who loved the small things in life. A bird singing, freshly cut grass, his garden, but most of all his children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

In the first few weeks, I was devastated. The pain was unbearable, like a piece of my heart was ripped out of me. Until one day, a voice in me said:

"Think about the amazing memories and great times you have had with your dad, not about the sad things."

From that day, I changed my thoughts and mindset (and believe me, it was hard the first few weeks).

My personal Precious Memories

I began to look and think of the beautiful things I had done with my Dad. The precious memories we shared. My husband WJ, our sons Patrick, Michael, Jayme, and I had shown my Dad & Mom the world.

We had made cruises together and had the most incredible vacations (we even climbed Dunns Riverfall - in Jamaica when my parents were 68 years old). And we have taken them places they only dreamt of.

My Dad walked me down the aisle; our firstborn son is named after him. Every year we had the most joyful Christmasses together and uncountable BBQs with much love & laughter during summer.

I have so many happy and precious memories with my Dad. I feel glad to have had so many memorable years together with him.

Nevertheless, I miss him every day, and it still hurts; I also know how lucky, blessed and grateful I am to have shared the best times of my Dad's life with him.

DAD

I love you to the Moon & Back
to Eternity and Beyond.
Forever & Ever
You will ALWAYS be in my heart.
You are MY HERO
Thank you for being MY DAD
I miss you every day
Until we meet again.

My advice to each and every one. Make as many precious memories with your loved ones as possible so they will last you a lifetime, especially after a pandemic like Covid19. By all means, pick up your phone, call your loved ones, or FaceTime with them. Tell them how much you love them and what they mean to you.

Your Memories in our Mirrors

While sharing my precious memories with all of you it makes me realize what a unique business we have. Because from time to time, we receive orders from customers who also have lost a dear one.

Therefore we always see the pictures of the person who passed away and read the beautiful words our customers write to remember their loved ones.

When we see the final result in the Memorial Mirror and know the impact it will bring, it always touches my heart and often brings tears to my eyes.

A BIG HUG to all of you, and please STAY SAFE,
Debbie
